holiday fun for families
HealthWorks! Children’s Health Education Center has the perfect prescription to put away the holiday blahs.
Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 26-29, HealthWorks! will host a series of holiday activities for children and their grown-ups to enjoy together. There will be Reindeer games, “Minute to Win It” challenges, snowball fights and even a “Noon” Year’s Celebration on Dec. 29.
All of the activities except Drop and Shop are included in the price of admission, which is $5; free for members and children under 2.
For Drop and Shop on Dec. 21 and 26, kids 4 to 12 can have loads of healthy fun while their parents shop. The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event is $25 per child, $20 per child for members.
In December, HealthWorks! is loading up its train with canned goods for local food banks. Receive one free pass to the center when you bring four canned goods, redeemable on the next visit.

Oxford fitness center
hosts training sessions
Ice Core Fitness of Oxford has been selected to host an advanced certification BarreAmped training workshop this weekend.
BarreAmped, developed by Suzanne Bower, is an intensive body shaping experience using a method developed by classical and modern dance. It is not a dance class, but the ballet barre is used to achieve optimal positioning.
The three-day intensive training will be conducted by Amy Kletecka Weber, a master level instructor and international teacher trainer for BarreAmped, who also owns the flagship studio in Franklin, Tenn.
Ice Core Fitness is Mississippi’s only licensed BarreAmped and Gyrotonic studio. The center will have four instructors, including owner Kristina Carlson, participating in training.
