Blues artists Kenny Brown and Alvin Youngblood Hart will share the stage for one last show in 2012.
“We always have fun playing together,” Brown said in a phone interview with the Daily Journal. “We’ll just play some blues and try to have a good time.”
Brown doesn’t have any special set-list prepared for the year-end concert, but that’s how he likes it.
“We don’t really plan them out. I don’t even really do a set list: We just do what feels right when we get there,” he said.
He and Alvin will play a few songs together as well as trade off on doing a few solo hits.
This year, next year
2012 was a good year for Brown. His annual Hill Country Picnic brought blues fans from across the world and the country out to the hills of North Mississippi, and he played shows across the country as well as close to home, in Potts Camp.
“I can’t complain. I live out in the country and play music, and I got my animals. I get to hunt and fish, and I get to travel to big cities once in a while,” he said, “so I’ve got the best of both worlds.”
This next year will see Brown bring back the Hill Country Picnic, tour and hit the studio.
“We’ve got more gigs booked than we did last year,” he said. “I’m going into the studio (soon) to do some recording for the North Mississippi Allstars, they’ve got a new record coming out. I’m hoping to do some (records) myself too. I’ve got a couple of projects in mind, so hopefully we can get that going pretty soon.”
But first on his agenda is saying goodbye to 2012 with Hart and a room full of blues fans.
“We hope everybody comes out and has a good time,” he said.
