Ms. Ruth’s Diner is reopening its Verona location.

The Southern restaurant has a ribbon cutting scheduled for 11 a.m. today and then will serve lunch. It’s located at 307 College Ave.

It will reopen for good Tuesday. Hours are 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Owner Ruth Bramlett closed the restaurant Nov. 22, citing slow business and potential financial requirements of so-called Obamacare. She said the emphasis of Ms. Ruth’s would be full-time catering.

However, the restaurant on Dec. 24 posted on its Facebook page that it would reopen for lunch in January.

“There will be a few changes put in place, but it will still have the same great food and people,” the post said.

Ms. Ruth’s has earned a reputation for Southern comfort food. The restaurant serves favorites such as banana pudding, barbecue chicken, cobbler, pie, chicken strips, salmon patties, fried chicken, ham and dressing, hamburger steaks, greens and mashed potatoes.

Bramlett’s daughter, Johnette, runs Ms. Ruth’s Express inside Gloster Creek Village.
