Williams, who wraps up his second term as Saltillo’s chief executive on June 30, said Monday he will not seek re-election.
In fact, the Republican officeholder said, he’s building a house in Huntsville, Ala., and will move there to be near his daughters and grandchildren.
As soon as June 30 falls, Williams said he’s gone.
Williams has led the Lee County town just north of Tupelo through an unprecedented period of growth.
News of his plans came from the Lee County Board of Supervisors, which reappointed him to the E-911 commission with the understanding they will have a vacancy when Williams departs for Alabama.
