Bryan, who filed qualifying papers seeking the Republican nomination for the Ward 6 seat on Wednesday, had considered a run for mayor. Mayor Jack Reed is not seeking re-election.
“At this time I feel I’m a better fit in the council seat than the mayor’s seat,” said Bryan, 49, a insurance/financial sector businessman. “As a councilman, I’ve listened and worked hard for Ward 6. I want to continue to be their voice.”
