Board member Luke Doehner, who was reappointed after completing one term on the previous board, was elected board president; Pauline Sorrell, who previously had begun serving her first term, was reappointed and elected vice president; and new appointee Sandy Mitchell was elected secretary/treasurer.
Other board members attending include Laura Albright, Billy Taylor, Russell Smith and Danny Timmons.
The board accepted the resignation of Kristy White, who submitted her two-week notice on Jan. 3. Thursday was her final work day. Program director Karen Beth Martin had submitted her resignation on Jan. 4, and is using accrued vacation as her two-week notice period.
The board went into executive session, with Alcorn County Supervisor Tim Mitchell and county attorney Bill Davis in attendance, to discuss further particulars of the job openings.
The board will meet again at 8 a.m. Jan. 24, to establish requirements for a new executive director and advertise for the position.
Doehner speculated that they might accept applications and resumes for three weeks before closing the application period, and noted that he already had received four resumes and letters of interest. In further discussions, the board agreed it would give priority to local applicants who are familiar with Corinth, Alcorn County and the local area.
