CORINTH — The Corinth Board of Aldermen has promoted fire department Capt. Billy Briggs to fire chief.

The Daily Corinthian reports that Briggs and three others were interviewed Tuesday by aldermen.

Briggs will fill the post previously held by Rob Price for nine years. Price has retired.

Assistant Fire Chief John Wood, who did not seek the chief's job, had served as acting chief.
