Whitaker is a left handed pitcher that was a three year starter for the Braves under head coach Jerry Long.
“Whitaker is a great kid and we are glad to have him move on to play at the next level,” said Long. “I think he will be a good addition to the Northeast team and we hope he has lots of success.”
Whitaker played for the elite Mississippi Stars team in 2012, after going 2-2 on the mound during his junior campaign. Whitaker held a 3.23 earn run average with two saves, 26 strike outs and 12 walks.
“I am excited about coming to Northeast to play baseball and continue my education,” stated Whitaker. “I chose Northeast because I like the coaches and I feel like I can be successful there.”
Northeast head baseball coach Kent Farris agrees that Whitaker will be a help to his program.
“Tanner is a good kid and a great pitcher and anytime we can add another quality pitcher to our program then it is a good thing,” explained Farris. “He comes from a solid program and a good family and is well coached. We are proud to have him sign with us.”
