RIPLEY – The city’s new Smith City Park – centered around six baseball/softball fields and two soccer fields – is rapidly nearing completion, and plans are for a baseball tournament to be held there the weekend of March 9, Ripley Mayor Chris Marsalis said recently.
The park is located 800 feet down Smith Park Drive, which provides access to the facility from Ashland Road.
The park is named for Fred and Elizabeth Smith, whose grandson, Fred Fortier, donated the 50 acres of land for the facility.
