“It has always been a dream of mine to play college baseball and ICC has a really good program that I’m looking forward to being a part of next year,” said Butler. “They have really nice facilities, the coaching staff is a really good one and they are always winning.”
“Gable has been a four-year starter and has played more than anyone we’ve had up here in a long time,” said Braves’ head coach Jerry Long. “He is a good ball player and we are looking for a lot of good things out of him. He can run, he can hit and he has a good arm on him. I know Coach Collier will up him up with their weight program and I have a feeling you will be seeing some big things out of him before he leaves ICC.”
Butler is the first-ever player from Tishomingo County High School to sign with the ICC baseball program.
“We are very excited about getting Gable,” said Collier. “He is one of the best outfielders that we’ve seen. He ranked very high on every aspect of the game at the state game tryouts. He has great speed, a great arm, great instincts when he’s out there and he can swing a pretty good bat also.”
The Indians will open the 2013 season on the road against Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama on February 9 before hosting Southwest Tennessee Community College in their home opener on February 13.
