The Commercial Dispatch reports it's the second time in less than six months that Main Street Columbus is looking for a new director.
The group's board said in a statement that Nickie Nicholson had been fired, just seven weeks after she started the job.
Officials would not discuss the reasons for her firing but said the board met with Nicholson last week about her performance.
A search for a replacement is expected to begin next week.
Nicholson, 29, is a native of Georgia who moved to Columbus in June. She took over as Main Street director on Dec. 10, replacing Amber Brislin, who had been director for six years. Brislin stayed on for the remainder of December to help organize Wassail Fest, the downtown Christmas parade and the New Year's Eve Block Party.
The group said Brislin will remain to help organize the upcoming Market Street Festival along with Jan Miller.
Of 86 storefronts in downtown Columbus, about 20 are vacant.
