The Daily Times Leader reports that Parker was hired this week by the board of supervisors.
Parker comes to Clay County from Starkville where he was a lieutenant in the Starkville Fire Department for 10 years. He also was an instructor at the Mississippi Fire Academy for 12 years.
Parker will oversee the county's seven volunteer fire departments.
Parker says he will conduct classes soon for volunteer firemen, such as rope rescue classes and other fire and rescue related classes.
