Midnite butterflies benefit cancer patients
Midnite Pottery and the NMMC Cancer Center recently introduced the seventh in a series of original butterfly pottery to benefit cancer patients.
Local artist Jennifer Hankins-Shelton created the 2013 pottery butterfly and platter to be sold exclusively by the NMMC Cancer Center.
As in years past each butterfly is accented with a unique wire, colored bead and metal “word of inspiration” tag. Some of the butterflies have a pink bead for breast cancer. Each butterfly sells for $20, and each platter sells for $60. Both benefit the NMMC Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, which is administered by the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi.
In 2012, the Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund assisted 508 patients in the amount of $119,350.
For more information about the butterfly pottery pieces, call Cindy Edwards, NMMC Cancer Center social worker, at (662) 377-4049 or (800) 843-3375.
