Lowndes County Administrator Ralph Billingsley tells The Commercial Dispatch that project has entered the design phase. He says after the engineering phase is done, bids will be sought and construction contracts will be awarded.
The extension will cost approximately $600,000. It is funded through a Mississippi Department of Transportation grant with a 20 percent match by the county and the City of Columbus.
The board of supervisors voted in December to connect the street along the back end of the soccer complex. They say the extension will help with traffic congestion in the soccer complex area.
