Ruby Mae Strange Tittle, 82, passed from this life Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born in Prentiss County on Aug. 24, 1930, and married Dave Tittle on Feb. 5, 1947. She worked at Prentiss Manufacturing for over 20 years and at Kimberly Clark for more than 15 years. She was a longtime member of Gaston Baptist Church. The first word that comes to mind when thinking of this beautiful lady is red, which was her favorite color. A hard day’s work was routine for her. She had a kind, giving heart and a beautiful, bright, engaging smile that will be dearly missed. Her favorite hobbies were giving and taking care of others.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Gaston Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Brown officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ledbetter (Billy) and Wanda Ashmore (Chuck), both of Booneville; a brother, Bob Strange of Booneville; two sisters, Christine Scott of Evans, Ga., and Joyce Morgan (Billy) of Booneville; four grandchildren, Michelle Pettigrew (Mark), Dr. Molli Floyd (Wesley), both of Booneville, Justin Ashmore (Kathleen) of Corinth and Jered Ashmore (Camae) of Booneville; and three great-grandchildren, Trevor Pettigrew of Booneville, Colte Ashmore and Casen Ashmore, both of Corinth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Tittle, on August 24, 2004; her parents, Earl and Glen Strange; and two brothers, Kenneth and Tommy Strange.
Pallbearers are Justin Ashmore, Jered Ashmore, Trevor Pettigrew, Kevin Eubank, Wesley Floyd, Billy Morgan and Steve Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Pitts and the Gaston Sanctuary Sunday School Class.

MANTACHIE – Nora Lee Grimes Starling, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at her son’s home in Mantachie.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Union Grove Family Worship Center near Mooreville. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

RICHMOND COMMUNITY – Mary Elizabeth Cogsdell Gilmore, 81, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at her residence. She was born July 24, 1931, in West Point, to Barney and Josie Harris Cogsdell Kennedy. She was a native of West Point but had resided in Richmond for the past 38 years. She was a retired secretary and a Methodist.
Our deepest gratitude to granddaughters Becky Walters and Shelly Johnson for all their help during her sickness and a special thanks to the hospice nurses who were so wonderful in her time of need.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Samuel John Raper officiating. A private family burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by her third husband, Bobby Gilmore Sr. (Wanda) of Tupelo; three daughters, Jean Schmidt (Jim), Lynn Sullivan, both of Richmond and Darlene Smith (Terry) of Mooreville; three sons, Charles Sullivan (Chris) of Mobile, Ala., Paul Smith Sr. (Kathy) of Sulligent, Ala., and Bobby Gilmore Jr. (Angie) of Mooreville; one sister, Minnie Kennedy of Marietta, Ga; two brothers, Thomas Cogsdell (Marjorie) of Saraland, Ala., and William Cogsdell of Texas; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-granchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Houston Sullivan; her second husband, Dewey E. Smith; her parents; two sons, James Harvey Sullivan and Robert Earl Sullivan; three sisters, Eileen White, Lorene Kennedy and Barbara Jo Oliver; and brother, James Cogsdell.
Pallbearers will be John Schmidt, Tony Schmidt, Paul Smith Jr., Justin Smith, Derrick Sawyer and Shawn Sawyer.

BRUCE – Bessie Mae Evans, 81, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services. She was a member of Lord Is There Holiness Church and she worked at Spratlin Building Supply for several years.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Bruce, with Bishop Winfer Turner officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery in Vardaman. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge.
She is survived by her son, Walter Evans of Pittsboro; two daughters, Rosie Evans of Milwaukee, Wis., and Elaine Farrar of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Rosie Bailey of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

RIENZI – Earleen Gallaher Harris, 80, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Tippah County Hospital. She was born April 5, 1932, to Bessie and Fresco Gallaher. She attended Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home with Elder Cecil Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
Survivors are three daughters, Rhonda (Ronnie) Flanagan, Judy (Howell) Duncan and Becky (Johnny) Fisher; one son, Jerry (Linda) Harris; two sisters, Van Akers and Lou Anderson; one brother, Kendrick (Katie) Gallaher; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

CORINTH – Luevada Knight Jones died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born May 27, 1919, to John Calvin and Luedell Gilton Knight. She was a member of the Church of Christ and retired sales associate for Belk’s.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Malcom George officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Corinth.
She is survived by her sister, Gerneal Latch of Corinth; and a host of nieces and nephews.

WALNUT – Gary Lynn Brown, 59, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at his residence. He was born Aug. 10, 1953, to Billye Graves Brown and the late Austin Riley Brown. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and a truck driver. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his mother, Billye Brown of Walnut; one stepdaughter, Brigette Rankin of Oxford; one granddaughter, Kylie Caver of Oxford; two sisters, Deborah Gray (Joey) of Walnut and Lisbeth Wildman of Walnut; and a host of nieces and nephews.

NEW ALBANY – Lorea Woodham Nowlin, 91, died Feb. 9, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. She was born Nov. 4, 1921, in Cherry Valley, Ark., to William Sherman Woodham and Ada Mae Henderson Woodham. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church.

MANTACHIE – Amy Thompson Franks, 96, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home in the Shiloh community. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, to Jim and Eddy Harris Thompson. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and she farmed most all her life with her husband. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and was an avid gardener.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Opal Palmer ( Kenneth) and Barbara Cates; two grandchildren, Rickey Johnson and JoAnn Blaylock (Douglas); two great-grandchildren, Mary Ann Kennedy (Stevie) and Nelson McMillen (Holly); four great grandchildren, Mason Hill, Chase McMillen, Kain Kennedy and Carson McMillen, all of the Shiloh community; two sisters, Susie Taylor of Mantachie and Wilma Hester of Unity; and brother, J.T. Thompson (Willie Pearl) of Mantachie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Archie Franks, who died April 24, 2010; one granddaughter, Rita Palmer Bailey; one son-in-law, Roger Johnson; three sisters, Mildred Anderson, Avis Nanney, and Lillie Rogers; one brother, Raymond Thompson; her parents; and a special step-mother, Lena Thompson.
