Highway Patrol Trooper Ray Hall said an investigation shows Maria M. Ramsey, 42, 0f Iuka, was traveling west bound on Highway 172 when she apparently collided with a2007 Ford Explorer driving by Amber Thornton, 19, of Cherokee, Ala.
Ramsey was transported to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth with life-threatening injuries where she remains in critical condition.
Thornton was taken to the same hospital with moderate injures.
Thornton's adult passenger was taken to the hospital in Iuka with moderate injures and a two-year-old passenger was transported to Le Bonheur in Memphis with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The third 7-month-old passenger was not injured.
Hall said all of Thornton's passengers were properly restrained. It is unclear if Ramsey was restrained because the vehicle burned in the crash.
