TUPELO – One candidate qualified to run for Tupelo City Council this week.

Mark A. Hardin, age not given, a special education teacher, filed as a Democrat for the Ward 4 city council seat. Incumbent Nettie Y. Davis, 71, an artist and retired educator, previously qualified as a Democrat.

Candidates can file to run for mayor and city council positions through March 8. The party primaries are May 7 and the general election June 4.
