The four-day event ends with a pay-per-view event at the Superdome.
The official announcement came Monday at a news conference in New Orleans by civic, sports and tourism leaders and by executives from the media company, World Wrestling Entertainment, which organizes WrestleMania.
In a news release, the WWE says the event will be televised to more than 100 countries.
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu says in a statement that the city has played host to some of the greatest sports and entertainment events in the world over the past two years. He says hosting WrestleMania is a great way to continue this unprecedented streak.
