Major Thoroughfare priority study tabled

TUPELO – The City Council delayed a vote on a Major Thoroughfare Program study Tuesday.

Members wanted to gather more information on how an engineering firm was selected for recommendation.

The $90,000 study is designed to identify priorities for road improvement program which is funded by a special levy in five-year-phases. It calls for significant stakeholder and public input.

A subcommittee of the Major Thoroughfare Committee recommended Civil Link of Tupelo, using a Mississippi Department of Transportation process that ways professional qualifications and fees.
