The board of supervisors this week approved the bid from Lee Security. Three cameras will be placed along the perimeter fencing.
Security Chief Keith Latch tells the Daily Corinthian that state officials requested more cameras after a jail escape in which an officer was assaulted. He says it needs to happen before the American Correctional Association visits in March.
Also for the regional jail, the board approved a contract with CBM Managed Services to provide inmate meals. With the new contract, the facility will see a decrease in cost per meal from $1.07 to 89.5 cents. Sheriff Charles Rinehart says that will result in a savings over the course of a year of about $75,000.
