Joseph “Doug” Tapp, 32, of County Road 416, Corinth, was arrested for allegedly shoving a woman into his vehicle and driving off with her after she confronted him and accused him of taking tools from the bed of her pickup truck, Dance said. They were outside the Dollar Tree store on South Harper Road, and he drove behind the nearby Walmart store and pushed her out of his vehicle and tossed out the tools before trying to flee, Dance said.
While making his getaway, Dance said Tapp unhooked a trailer from his vehicle, and police Officers Ben Moore and Tim Lancaster caught up with him before he was able to escape.
“It’s kidnapping in that she was held against her will,” Dance said. “We’ve picked up the trailer he left and are investigating its possible theft and other cases he might be connected with.”
Bond was set at $10,000, but Tapp was out on bond from a previous felony charge of burglary of a vehicle, so Dance said the district attorney will be asked to request his bond be revoked.
