NECC advances to finals at MACJC state tourney

POPLARVILLE – Angelia Allen scored 25 points to lead the Northeast Community College Lady Tigers to a 68-49 win against Jones in the semifinals of the MACJC state tournament on Wednesday.

Northeast (14-10) will play Copiah-Lincoln, which defeated Itawamba 61-60 in the other semifinal, for the state championship today at 5 p.m.

Allen, a freshman guard from Belmont, was eight of 12 from the field and converted nine of 14 free throws.

ICC (16-9) missed a pair of potential game-winning baskets in the final seconds in its loss to Co-Lin.

Ayanna Lynn led ICC with 20 points, while Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) added 17.
