ICC women advance to finals at region tourney

CLINTON – The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians used a second-half rally to upset state champion Copiah-Lincoln 62-56 on Friday in the semifinals of the Region XXIII tournament.

Itawamba (18-9) faces Baton Rouge, which defeated Gulf Coast 62-59 in the other semifinal, in today’s championship game at 6 p.m.

Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) led ICC with 20 points, while Ashley Wiley added 10.

NWCC, EMCC men advance: Northwest upset No. 20 Pearl River 89-81 in Friday’s semifinals, while East Miss. knocked off Baton Rouge 68-60 to set up today’s championship game at 8 p.m.
