MSU’s Bougard wins pentathlon title

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mississippi State had a pair of winning performances on Saturday at the NCAA Division I national track championships.

Senior D’Angelo Cherry won the men’s 60 meters, adding to the U.S. championship he won in the event last weekend.

Earlier in the day, sophomore Erica Bougard wrapped up an NCAA title in the women’s pentathlon.

Cherry won the men’s 60 in 6.54, with Auburn’s Marcus

Rowland second in 6.55.

Bougard won the pentathlon – a combination of six events – with 4,399 points. Senior Kela Pinnick of Arizona State was second with 4,327, same as thirdplace finisher Makeva Alcide of Arkansas.

The Arkansas men and Oregon women were team champions.
