JACKSON — The Mississippi Hospital Association says it is working with Gov. Phil Bryant to address funding issues related to Medicaid.

Bryant remains opposed to an expansion of Medicaid, which has been advocated as a possible solution to funding reductions under the Affordable Care Act, but says he wants to work with hospital leaders to come up with alternative solutions. No concrete solutions were offered at a news conference Monday in Madison.

Claude Harbarger, leader of the MHA Board of Governors, says he is grateful for Bryant's willingness to work toward a solution.

MHA says the state's hospitals are already losing millions of dollars as they begin to implement the Affordable Care Act.

A hearing on Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act is scheduled for later Monday at the state Capitol.
