He said he couldn't wait to break down the film.
"We get to go out and watch the film all day - it's like Christmas morning right now," he said. "We get to go in and see what type of hand we've been dealt, see who can play and who likes contact and who's physical."
It was MSU's third practice since spring drills started Tuesday, the first in full pads.
The Bulldogs return to the practice field on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
The offense struggled early with the new spread schemes but finished strong. Strength coach Matt Balis kept score, awarding points for execution and effort. The offense got the final edge with four touchdown plays inside the 10-yard line.
"I was really disappointed with the execution in the first round of scrimmage we had for the offense, but you know what, they really toughened up when we got down to the goal line, punched the ball in a whole bunch," Mullen said.
Second workout for Rebels
n OXFORD - The Old Miss football team will put on full pads for the first time today, after the Rebels second workout on Saturday ran for 21/2 hours in helmets and shorts.
"Another good one today," head coach Houston Nutt said. "The offensive line did a much better job of picking up a few more blitzes, protected the quarterback better. We didn't have as many turnovers today, and we've been stressing that hard.
"The thing about our defense ... When they know where to go and what to do, they're tough to deal with. They give our quarterbacks a lot of different looks. They disguise things well, so we've just got to keep working."
