- Looking back: The Rebels were 3-1 for the week with all games against SEC foes.

Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State 8-1 in the Governor's Cup game in Pearl on Tuesday. The game does not count in the SEC standings, but it helped the Rebels get back in the win column after losing twice at home against South Carolina the previous weekend.

Senior Brett Bukvich struck out a career-high 11 batters to get the win.

The Rebels followed that up with a series win at Florida. Game 1 starter Drew Pomeranz, hit hard by South Carolina, threw a four-hit complete game in a 6-2 win. He walked three and struck out nine.

Sunday starter Scott Bittle overcame early control problems as he and reliever Jake Morgan led a 5-3 eight-inning win in a game cut short by the travel schedule.

Florida won the Saturday game 8-4, aided by four Ole Miss errors.

- Looking ahead: The Rebels are back at home tonight against Arkansas-Little Rock, then travel to Hattiesburg on Wednesday to face Southern Miss in a make-up game.

UALR is 9-25 overall, 5-14 and in last place in the Sun Belt Conference.

Southern Miss is 24-14, 9-6 and in third place, two games behind league-leading Rice, in the Conference USA standings.

n Rankings: The Rebels are ranked No. 11 by Baseball America, up six spots from last week.

- In the SEC: The Rebels resume conference play this weekend at home against SEC-leading Georgia. Ole Miss is 11-7 in the SEC, tied for second in the Western Division with LSU, a half game behind West-leading Arkansas and one game ahead of Alabama. The Rebels are two games behind Georgia in the overall conference standings.

- MVP: Catcher Kyle Henson, in the lineup for his offense, was 5-for-12, two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs at Florida.
