NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt continued its assault on Mississippi State pitching, hitting three home runs in the first two innings for a 10-4 victory that clinched the weekend series.

The teams wrap up their series today at 1 p.m.

Vandy’s Brian Harris homered to lead off the bottom of the first, then Aaron Westlake cracked a three-run shot for a quick 4-0 advantage.

The Commodores (26-17, 9-10 SEC) extended that to 7-1 in the second as Curt Casali hit a three-run shot.

It was the second day in a row that MSU trailed 7-1 after two innings. The Bulldogs (21-23, 6-14) lost 8-6 on Friday night.

Ryan Duffy homered in the second for MSU. Leadoff hitter Grant Hogue went 2-for-5 and drove in a run.

Nick Routt (4-3) took the loss, giving up 10 hits and nine runs (five earned).

Vandy out-hit MSU 12-8.

Vanderbilt starter Drew Hayes (4-2) worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs (both earned), with five strikeouts and three walks. John Bierman earned his first save.
