"Some farmers don't have stuff ready yet so others may fill their spots," said Megan McCarty, marketing specialist for the Tupelo Downtown Main Street Association. "We plan to have a full farmers' market every week."
Among the first offerings will be strawberries, squash, tomatoes, radishes, greens, new potatoes, beets, green onions, broccoli, cauliflower, English peas, lettuce and cabbage, pecans, honey, hanging plants, farm-raised eggs, canned goods, jellies and baked goods.
All 28 permanent stalls are already reserved and 13 more vendors are on a waiting list, McCarty said.
"This is the first year it's been booked two weeks after we sent out letters to the producers," she said.
The market, located on South Spring Street near Clark Street, opens at 6 a.m. Saturday and likely will close up about noon. It will also be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. until noon through Halloween.
When: The market opens Saturday May 9. Regular days and hours will be Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. until about noon.
