A questionable swing on the last hole Wednesday involving Itawamba AHS golfer Taylor Boggs is the reason for the official protest that was filed late Thursday afternoon.
Proctor said on Thursday that a ruling could be made by the end of Friday.
The IAHS golfer says he took a practice swing at a ball in the brush; the New Albany golf team claims that it was indeed an attempt at the ball and that Boggs missed it and should have recorded the stroke on his scorecard.
"We're not ready to release it," Proctor told the Journal late Friday afternoon. "We have to look everything over. We'll make a decision on it Monday."
If Boggs is disqualified, New Albany would be declared the Class 4A champion. If the ruling of the tournament committee is upheld, Itawamba would be the champion.
