Benefit tourney June 13
n A basketball tournament to benefit the Shaquille Vance family will be held June 13 at Houston High School with Houston, Aberdeen, Calhoun City and Okolona participating.
Doors open to sell BBQ, burger or chicken plates at 10:30 and hoops action begins at 1 p.m. $5 admission at the door.
Proceeds benefit Shaquille Vance and family. Vance is a student at HHS and recently required amputation of his lower right leg.

Division 116 tourney action
n Joseph Webster from Fulton, MS is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a First Place win and $393.00 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Smithville Lake on the Tenn.- Tom Waterway this past weekend. Joseph 5 bass limit weighed in at 20.09 pounds. Second place went to Jamie Long with a weight of 10.74 pounds, and third place was Joel Ehrhart with a weight of 9.11 pounds. Big bass was awarded was to Joseph Webster who caught a 5.70 pound spotted bass.
Division 116's next tournament will be June 27th on Columbus Lake at East Bank Ramp

Boating class June 13
n Boater Safety class will be held June 13 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Okolona Courthouse. All persons born after June 30, 1980 must complete a Boat and Water Safety course in order to operate any water craft on the public waters of Mississippi. Pre-registration is required five days in advance of class by calling 840-5172. Courses are available on line at www. Mdwfp.com.
ICC basketball camp
n Itawamba Community College head men's basketball coach Marty Cooper has announced a two-day camp has been scheduled for next month, June 19-20. It's for boys entering into 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade.
The cost is only $30 if you pre-register and on-site registration is at $35, which includes camp t-shirt and certificate. On-site registration requires a phone call by June 17th to reserve spot.
