BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College head coach Ricky Smither added another lineman to his roster on Thursday, June 11th.

Smither announced that Booneville High School offensive/defensive lineman Graham Vaughn has signed to play with the Tigers for the upcoming 2009 season.

Vaughn, a 6-1, 265-pound lineman was a three-year football letterman for the Blue Devils under the direction of head coach Jim Drewry. Vaughn was a versatile player in the trenches playing both defense and offense for coach Drewry and in 2008 Vaughn was selected as the best defensive lineman for the Blue Devils.

“Graham was a power lifter in high school but he still needed to put on some more weight”, explained Smither. “He was a late signee for us because we had asked him to put on some more weight and to hit the weight room hard and he did just that. So we decided to sign him after seeing how much muscle and weight he had put on from all his hard work. We are glad to get him in here and have him onboard”, Smither said.

Vaughn graduated with honors and was a Mississippi Scholar and will now look to continue his success on and off the field on the campus of Northeast in the fall of 2009.

Northeast’s football team will open its 2009 season against Hinds Community College at home on August 27 at 7 p.m.
