Roper-Hines

Tony and Reeta Roper of Belden announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsey Marie Roper, to William Curtis Hines, son of John and Elaine Hines of Belden.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Amie Roper of Belden and the late Billy Roper, and Marie Dickerson of Belden and the late Joe Dickerson.

She attended Mississippi State University. She is a customer service representative at BancorpSouth in Saltillo.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late William and Audra Hines of Tupelo, and Curtis and Ona Lowery of Tupelo, formerly of Brownsville, Tenn.

He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College. He is an employee of Whitaker Sales Inc. in Verona.

The couple will exchange vows June 27, 2009, at Belden Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited.

Poppelreiter-Bishop

Mr. and Mrs. Andy Loden of Saltillo announce the engagement of their daughter, Bethany Kamille Poppelreiter, to Levi Neal Bishop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bishop of Saltillo.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late George Poppelreiter of Saltillo. She is the granddaughter of Shelby Hankins of Saltillo and the late G.L. Hankins; Elaine Poppelreiter of Saltillo and the late John Poppelreiter; and Mr. and Mrs. Ebb Loden of Saltillo.

She is a special distinction graduate of Saltillo High School. She was a member of the Hall of Fame, senior class vice president and Student Council vice president. She received the Citizenship Award and the Lady Tiger Award. She was a homecoming maid, and a member of the Beta Club, varsity softball team, and Scholars Bowl team and newspaper staff. She was chosen Most Intellectual and Most Dependable. She is a 2008 honor graduate of Itawamba Community College with an associate of arts degree. She was editor of the school newspaper, recipient of English and journalism departmental awards, a Diamond Girl, and a member of the Indian Delegation, Hall of Fame, Phi Theta Kappa All Academic Team, and Who’s Who Among American Junior College Students. She is a senior at the University of Mississippi, where she is a student ambassador, and a Leadership, Lamar Memorial and Luckyday Scholarships recipient.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bishop of Saltillo; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McBrayer of Guntown; and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Ellis of Shannon.

He is a graduate of Saltillo High School, where he was a member of the Student Council. He lettered in baseball and basketball. He was Best Offensive Player in basketball, a two-time Most Valuable Player in baseball, a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, and recipient of the Will to Win Award, Pitching Award and Highest Batting Average Award. He is a 2007 graduate of Itawamba Community College. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the baseball team. He earned All Division and All Region 23 honors. He is a 2009 graduate of Delta State University, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma and Pi Gamma Mu honor societies. He was a member of the Statesman baseball team. He was named All-Gulf South Conference and All South Central Regional. He currently holds the record for career saves at DSU. He is an Academic All-American.

The couple will exchange vows at 6:30 p.m. June 27, 2009, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Wes Pitts in Mantachie. A reception will follow.

Cox-Griffin

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Cox of Pontotoc announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelli Elizabeth Cox, to Bradley Wayne Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Griffin of Aiken, S.C., formerly of Pontotoc.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Charles and Betty Austin, and the late J.T. and Marjorie Cox, all of Pontotoc.

She is a 2003 honor graduate of Pontotoc High School. She earned her associate of arts degree at Itawamba Community College, where she was a member of the Indian Delegation. She is a 2007 graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor of arts degree in communications/public relations. She is a customer service representative for All Star Rents Inc. in Aiken, S.C.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Max Griffin of Pontotoc; Charlie and Joan Custer of Roanoke, Va.; and Ruby Herring of Batesville and the late Roy Herring.

He is a 2002 honor graduate of Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham. He was a member of the Youth Leadership, band and Peer Helper program. He attended Mississippi State University. He is attending Southern Wesleyan University in Aiken, S.C. He is employed as a technician for Atlantic Broadband in Aiken.

Turner-Baughman

Steve and Pam Turner of Amory announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Deon Turner, to Christopher Grant Baughman, son of Mike and Beverly Baughman of Amory.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Obine Turner of Amory and the late Red Turner, and Wyman and Lola Lucas of Beaverton, Ala.

She is a graduate of Amory High School. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education at Mississippi University for Women.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Richard and Virginia Moreland and the late Cliff Baughman of Amory; Mabel Tackett of Amory and the late Horace Tackett; and Jerry Sims of Dothan, Ala.

He is a graduate of Amory High School, where he was valedictorian. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in secondary math from the University of Mississippi, where he was class marshall. He is a math teacher and assistant baseball and football coach at Oxford High School.
