Kroger stores in Memphis and West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Southern Missouri (Poplar Bluff), and Southwest Kentucky (Paducah and Murray) are included in this recall.
Kroger is asking customers to check their freezers at home for certain packages of store-brand and store-packaged ground beef with sell-by dates from April 27 to June 1, 2009. UPC’s include 21165800000, 21165810000, 21165820000, and 21165830000 and the package description reads Ground Beef AP2 73% lean T.
It’s important to know that none of these items are in Kroger stores today.
Kroger is notifying customers with register receipt messages and telephone and e-mail recall alerts if they purchased a recalled item using their shopper’s card.
Customers who have the recalled items should not consume them and may return them to a store for a full refund or replacement.
As the holiday weekend approaches, Kroger reminds customers to always use a meat thermometer to cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160° F to ensure it is safe.
