SHANNON – Two men suspected in a Wednesday shooting at the Renasant Bank parking lot in Shannon were charged Friday.

Jerry Wayne Long, 43, and Juan Perez Johnson, 22, both of Shannon, have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Shannon Police Chief Desiree Kershner said Long, the alleged shooter, is charged with five counts of aggravated assault. Johnson, the alleged driver, is charged with accessory.

Because there were five people in the vehicle that shots were fired into, Long was charged with five separate counts.

Kershner said the driver of the SUV was not the target of the shooter, but a female passenger who allegedly owed one of the suspects money.
