JACKSON — State health officials say Mississippians can begin lining up for swine flu shots around mid-October.

The Mississippi State Department of Health said Thursday the vaccine will be available at all county health departments, participating doctors' offices, community health centers, pharmacies and other clinics.

MSDH Spokeswoman Liz Sharlot has said priority groups for the flu — children, young adults, and those with chronic diseases pregnant women — will be targeted for the vaccinations.

So far, 723 cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Mississippi with two deaths.

The state health agency also is working with day care centers, Head Start programs, schools, colleges and universities to get the vaccine to students.
