JACKSON — Zoo visitors in Mississippi's hot and humid capital city got their final chance Sunday to see tuxedoed birds from a colder climate.

Jackson Zoo offered discounts on admission for the last day of the Penguin Plunge exhibit. The six black-footed penguins in Jackson are native to Africa's southwest coast.

They had been on temporary exhibit in Jackson since March.

Zoo director Beth Poff says this is the first time penguins have been on display in Mississippi.

The 2-foot tall, flightless birds will be sent to other zoos and aquariums.
