TUPELO - Traffic on both lanes of Highway 6 was halted and backed up for hours after a wreck about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Two cars wrecked on a bridge just outside the Tupelo city limits in Lee County. Multiple people were injured, with at least one entrapped and one ejected.

According to Lee County E911 and those stuck in traffic, one lane was opened up and traffic started flowing again about 9:20 p.m. At that time, the Mississippi Department of Transportation was still on the scene doing cleanup.

The Tupelo Police Department assisted with diverting traffic at West Main Street and Coley Road.
