TUPELO – The Rev. Gayle Alexander, former long-time pastor of First Baptist Church Tupelo, recently celebrated 50 years in ministry.

Alexander, a native of Trenton, Tenn., graduated from New Orleans Baptist Seminary and began his ministry at the age of 18.

He was pastor of First Baptist from 1983-2001. After serving at First Baptist Church in Baldwyn, Alexander retired from active ministry in 2006. He currently serves as interim pastor at Golden Central Baptist Church in Belmont. He lives in Tupelo with his wife of 47 years, Keliea.

“Being a minister is the greatest call that a man could ever receive,” said Alexander. “This has been a delightful pilgrimage.”
