Blue Mountain college signs two for sotftball

Lizzy Sherard and Kristi Hurley, a pair of former standout prep softball players already enrolled at Blue Mountain College, have signed to play with the Lady Toppers when they begin softball competition in 2010.

Sherard, a sophomore outfielder from Southaven, batted .270 with five doubles, a grand slam home run and 17 runs-batted-in for the Lady Chargers during her senior year, and had a 1.000 fielding percentage. She was named all-Chickasaw Conference, Gatorade Rookie of the Year, and an All-American Scholar Athlete for four years.

Hurley, a sophomore outfielder and first baseman from Corinth, hit .323 for the Lady Warriors during her senior year. She had a .486 on base percentage with five doubles, two triples and 19 RBI.

Hurley was selected All-Alcorn County four years, All- Division three years, and played in both the Northeast Mississippi Softball and Baseball Coaches Association, and the Mississippi Association of Coaches all-star games.
