AMORY – The city of Amory has signed contracts with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for relocating water and sewer lines to make way for the new four-lane bypass.

Four contracts have been signed to begin the process of relocating both water and sewer lines on sections of Highway 278 East and Highway 25 North. The cost of the relocations, including engineering and surveying fees totals about $2.272 million for water and $1.451 million for sewer.

The city will receive a 100 percent reimbursement for all of the utility relocation work for the projects.

The Amory Board of Aldermen recently passed a resolution to contract with Owen & White engineering firm for the four MDOT projects and also with the MDOT and the Mississippi Transportation Commission to receive reimbursement.
