BOONEVILLE — In another sign of tough economic times, the city of Booneville is cutting city employees pay 10 percent.

Booneville City Attorney Daniel Tucker said officials chose the wage reduction over a proposal to cut weekly hours from 40 to 32.

The Booneville Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to cut all city employee pay until the budget gets back in better shape.

WTVA TV reported that the reduction includes all city employees, from judges to the mayor and aldermen.

The city has to have the cuts in effect by the next pay period.
