McGlowan considers run for Congress

TUPELO - Fox News analyst Angela McGlowan said Friday she is weighing a possible Republican race for the 1st District congressional seat held by Democrat Travis Childers.

In response to a question after addressing the Tupelo Kiwanis Club, McGlowan said she was "looking at that right now" but had not decided. She said it would depend on whether she felt Republicans could field a competitive candidate against Childers in 2010.

The only announced Republican candidate is state Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo. Former Circuit Judge Henry Ross of Eupora is expected to announce soon. The qualifying deadline is March 1, with primaries in June and the general election in November.

McGlowan, a Lafayette County native who maintains her residence there, has been a frequent speaker around the 1st District in recent months and a prominent figure at Tea Party rallies.
