JACKSON — Producers of a planned remake of the movie "True Grit" brought their search for a female lead to Jackson.

Paramount Pictures held an open casting call Sunday in Jackson in hopes of finding the next Mattie Ross — the teenage girl at the center of the story. That follows recent auditions in Lafayette, La.

The movie is set to star Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.

The casting call will run through Tuesday during the Cowboy Christmas Youth Challenge, a rodeo competition held at the Fordice Equine Center.
