LIBERTY — A Liberty man is now charged with manslaughter in the Dec. 21 shooting death of a woman.

Amite County sheriff's investigator Danny Meaux says Christopher Terrell was initially charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of Tina Courtney.

Meaux tells the Enterprise-Journal in McComb that the charges were upgraded after Courtney died from a head wound on Dec. 23 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.

Meaux says the shooting came during an argument between the two in the front yard of Terrell's home in Liberty.

Meaux says Terrell was being held Monday in the county jail pending an initial court appearance on the new charge.
