CORINTH – The car driven by a Corinth man who has been missing since Jan. 8 was recovered from the Tennessee River about midday Wednesday with a body inside, according to the Corinth police chief.

The body has not been identified, but may be Christopher Richard Bonds, 37, of Corinth. The Tennessee medical examiner will conduct an autopsy and make an identification based on dental and other records, said Corinth Police Chief David Lancaster.

Since Bonds was reported missing on the evening of Jan. 8, several areas in Hardin County, Tenn. have been searched extensively.

A week after Bonds was last seen, a signal from a call placed from his cell phone led to further searches near Fishermans Loop Road in Savannah, Tenn., including an air search.

A privately hired search team located by the family and called in on Tuesday ultimately discovered the car in the Tennessee River near the Catfish Hotel in Shiloh, Tenn.
