UPDATE: Alcorn, Prentiss schools trade leadership staff

The Alcorn County school board appointed Prentiss County Superintendent Matt Smith as principal of Kossuth High School during a special meeting held on Wednesday.

The Alcorn County board has made its decision and announcement, but the Prentiss County school board has not received formal notice from Smith that he is vacating his office, board President Rickie Davis said Thursday morning.

However, the Prentiss County school board will hold a special meeting at noon Thursday, after which Davis said he should have more information.
