BURNSVILLE – Special agents in the State Auditor’s Office arrested Elesha Dailey today after an indictment by the Tishomingo Grand Jury on seven counts of embezzlement.

Dailey was the town clerk of Burnsville from 2004 until 2007 and served as deputy town clerk from 2002 to 2004. She is free on $20,000 bond.

The investigation conducted by the state auditor’s office alleges Dailey embezzled more than $62,000. She has already repaid $12,804.73.

The alleged embezzlement took place from January 2004 to January 2007 and was initially discovered and reported to the auditor’s office by a CPA firm conducting the city’s routine audit and by Burnsville officials.
