NEW ALBANY – A late Saturday evening crash on U.S. Highway 78 near mile marker 70 claimed the life of a Myrtle man.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrolman Ray Hall, the wreck happened about 10:45 p.m. when a motorcyclist lost control.

Kenneth Todd, 44, of Myrtle was traveling west on Hwy. 78 on a 1987 Honda motorcycle when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and collided into a bridge rail. Hall said Todd was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into westbound traffic.

He was struck by a 1992 Buick driven by Leigh Ann Perris, 46, of Myrtle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
