There's no rest for the wicked, and no rest for the Felice Brothers.

Since forming in 2006, the Americana band, which calls New York home, has released a host of records and kept a steady roster of tour dates.

Not to waste any time, the band is now in the studio recording a new album, and its upcoming gig at Double Decker in Oxford will be the first show the guys have played in a while.

"We like both," said James Felice of whether or not the band prefers working in the studio or staying out on the road. "They're both very, very different lifestyles and mindsets, but they're great in different ways. ... It's a really fun job - they each have their own set of challenges."

More music

It's been about a year since The Felice Brothers released its last album, "Yonder is the Clock," and the band has been in the studio for a while crafting a new CD.

"It's gonna be different," Felice said of the new record. "It's hard to say when you're in the middle of it, but I think it's gonna be pretty good."

Felice said he's excited about Double Decker, since it'll give the band a chance to stretch its legs live.

"We like to bring energy to the show, and bring our all. This will be the first time we've played a show in a while because we've been in the studio, so I don't know what the hell's gonna happen, to tell you the truth," he said, laughing.

The guys had better get used to the stage, again, though: they're going out on tour with Dave Matthews Band this summer.

"It's gonna be crazy. We've never played shows of that magnitude before," Felice said.

Felice invites music fans to check out what The Felice Brothers will bring to Double Decker - out-of-practice or not.

"Like I say, we haven't been playing live in a long time. We have to do rehearsals and see if we even still know how to play," he said, laughing.
